Previously, he was Managing Director at General Catalyst; CTO & SVP of R&D at VMware, Inc (also earlier VP/Senior Director/Director of R&D); Senior Director of Software Engineering at Transmeta Corp; and an engineer at SGI/MIPs. Steve holds a PhD and MS from Stanford University and a BA from The University of Texas at Austin, and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
