Michael Donnelly

Michael Donnelly is a Founding Partner and Chief Risk Officer at Energy Impact Partners (EIP), where he invests across the energy transition and sustainability, spanning early through late stage, growth, private equity, and credit. EIP is a $5B+ investment firm with activity across the United States, North America, Europe (including the United Kingdom, Germany, and Ireland), and Asia. His sector coverage includes climate technology, renewable energy, energy storage, smart grids, distributed generation, smart buildings, mobility and transportation electrification, cybersecurity, enterprise software/SaaS, proptech, indoor agriculture, deep decarbonization, recycling, industrials, financial services, clean molecules, and infrastructure. He has invested in companies including Form Energy, Electric Hydrogen, Rondo Energy, Dragos, and Arcadia. Before EIP, Michael held roles in Business Development – M&A at GE Energy; served as Managing Director, SVP and Manager, SVP, and VP and Manager at GE Capital; was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve; and worked as a Maritime Officer (Second/Third Officer – Unlimited Tonnage) at Pacific Gulf Marine, SEDCO, and Nicor. Michael is an alumnus of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, and he lives in New York, United States.
