David T. Danielson is a Partner at Breakthrough Energy Ventures where he invests across Seed to Late Stage (Seed, Series A–C, Early, Venture, Late, and Grants) in sectors including Clean Energy, Energy Tech, Environment Tech, Sustainability Tech, Advanced Materials, Mining Technology, Energy Storage, High Tech, Enterprise Applications, and Chemical. He invests in companies across the United States (including Florida, the Greater Miami Area, the East Coast, and the Southern U.S.), Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. He has invested in companies like KoBold Metals, Form Energy, Fervo Energy, Redwood Materials, and Electric Hydrogen. Previously, he served as U.S. Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy and was a Co‑Founder of ARPA‑E. David holds a PhD in Materials Science from MIT and a BS in Materials Science & Engineering from UC Berkeley, and lives in Bethesda, Maryland.
