Matthew Young is a Managing Director at Longitude Capital, where he invests in life sciences and healthcare with a focus on biotechnology, medical technology, and health solutions. He backs companies primarily in the United States, including California and Massachusetts (San Francisco Bay Area/Silicon Valley and the broader West Coast), across venture growth and Series A–C rounds, as well as clinical- and commercial-stage opportunities. Longitude Capital’s recent fundraise was $135 million in July 2021. He has invested in companies like 89bio, Ceribell, CG Oncology, Cohere Health, and Mirum Pharmaceuticals. Before Longitude Capital, he was COO and CFO at GRAIL, and held multiple leadership roles at Jazz Pharmaceuticals (EVP & CFO; SVP & CFO; SVP Corporate Development). Earlier, he served as Managing Director, Head of Life Sciences at Barclays Capital and at Lehman Brothers (US), following roles at Merrill Lynch and BT Securities. Matthew studied at The Wharton School and resides in Menlo Park, California.
