Rob Freelen

Rob Freelen is a Managing Director at Sozo Ventures where he invests in Series B, Series C, Series D, and private equity stage startups across sectors including Healthcare, Bioanalytics, Robotics, AI, Agritech, FinTech, Consumer, Beauty, Deep Tech, Hardware, Data, SaaS, Food Tech, Logistics, and Supply Chain. He invests in companies across the United States (California, San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, West Coast) and Japan. He serves on the boards of Carbon Robotics, Haus Labs by Lady Gaga, Mercy BioAnalytics, Turbine Finance, and Atomic Machines, and has invested in companies like Mercy BioAnalytics, Carbon Robotics, Haus Labs by Lady Gaga, Turbine Finance, and Atomic Machines. Before Sozo Ventures, he held multiple roles at Silicon Valley Bank, including Managing Director and Head of Venture Capital Relationship Management; LA Market Manager, Managing Director; Chief of Staff – Commercial Banking; Managing Director, Life Sciences; Vice President, Life Sciences; and Director, SVB Private Client Services. He also served on the board of Aumni. Rob graduated from Whitman College.
