Ben Scruggs

Ben Scruggs is a Partner at Hatteras Venture Partners where he invests from seed through later stages (Series A–D and venture/PE rounds) across Life Sciences and Healthcare, including biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics, medtech, and healthtech. Hatteras Venture Partners raised over $200 million in August 2025. He invests in companies across the United States, with emphasis on the East Coast and Southern US, including the Research Triangle, as well as the Midwest. He serves on the boards of Veralox Therapeutics and IMMvention Therapeutix, Inc., and has invested in companies like Boomerang Medical, HistoSonics, Sensorium Therapeutics, Atsena Therapeutics, and GeneCentric Therapeutics. Before becoming a Partner at Hatteras, he held roles at the firm including Analyst, Associate, and Principal; earlier, he was Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives at Tune Therapeutics and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). Ben graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 2012 and lives in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area.
