Robert Berendes

Robert Berendes is an Executive Partner at Flagship Pioneering where he invests across agriculture and agtech, bioplatform companies, human health, and sustainability. He invests across Seed through late stage, including Private Equity and Post-IPO, and focuses on companies across Switzerland and the broader EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa). He serves on the boards of Invaio, Indigo, and Inari, and has invested in companies like Moderna, Indigo Ag, Inari, Seres Therapeutics, and Denali Therapeutics. Before Flagship Pioneering, he was a Venture Partner at Flagship Ventures; Operating Director at Paine + Partners; and Co-owner and partner at a-connect, and held multiple leadership roles at Syngenta (Head of Business Development; ad interim Head of Research & Development; Head of Diverse Field Crops; Head of Strategy, Planning, M&A, New Business Development). He has also served on boards including CiBO Technologies, Verdesian Life Sciences, and AgBiTech. Robert graduated from the Technical University of Munich and lives in Basel, Switzerland.
