John McKearn is a Managing Director at RiverVest Venture Partners, where he invests in biopharma and life sciences. He invests across the United States, including the Midwestern US and St. Louis, at stages ranging from early venture through late stage, including Series A–D and post-IPO. He serves on the board of IDM Pharma and has invested in companies like Wugen, OncoResponse, Bonum Therapeutics, ZS Pharma, and Allakos. Before RiverVest, he was President of PennyHead LLC; CSO, President & CEO at Kalypsys; Senior Vice President of Discovery Research at Pharmacia; and worked in Research at Searle. John holds a PhD in Immunology from the University of Chicago and a BS in Biology from Northern Illinois University, and lives in the United States.
