Scott James

Scott James is a Partner & COO at Goodwater Capital where he invests in consumer tech and fintech across pre-seed, seed, Series A, Series C, and early-stage venture. He invests in the United States, France, Australia, South Korea, and Asia. He has invested in companies like bemyfriends, Bümo, Mys Tyler, Posh, and Upword. Before becoming Partner & COO, he was General Counsel at Goodwater Capital; prior to that he was General Counsel at DCVC, Associate General Counsel at Accel Partners, and an Associate at Gunderson Dettmer. He has also served as Advisory Board Co-Chair at the UC Center for Business Law SF; Adjunct Professor at the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) and at UC Berkeley School of Law; Executive Fellow at the Berkeley Center for Law and Business; General Counsel Advisory Board Member at the National Venture Capital Association; and a Steering Committee Member at TechGC. Scott earned his law degree from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings) and lives in San Francisco, California.
