Robert Mittendorff, MD, MBA, is a General Partner and Global Head of Healthcare at B Capital where he invests in seed through growth-stage healthcare companies spanning AI, synthetic biology, bioengineering, and healthcare fintech. He serves on the boards of Capital Rx, HotSpot Therapeutics, Carlsmed, Lively, and Nalu Medical, and has invested in companies like Atomwise, Volastra, Triumvira, Myome, and Excision Biosciences. Before B Capital, he was Partner and Co-Head of Healthcare at Norwest Venture Partners; earlier roles include EVP of Marketing and Business Development at Hansen Medical (Nasdaq: HNSN), Portfolio Strategy at Merck, Consultant at Boston Consulting Group, and Attending Emergency Physician at Kaiser Permanente. He holds an MD and MBA from Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School, and studied at The Johns Hopkins University, Stanford University School of Medicine, King’s College London, and MIT. He invests across the United States, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
