Jay Schmelter

Jay Schmelter is a Co-Founder and Managing Director at RiverVest Venture Partners, where he invests in early-stage, later-stage, and Series A life sciences, including medical devices, biopharmaceuticals/biotech, health IT, pharmaceuticals, enterprise, and health & hospital services. He invests in companies across the United States, including the Midwest and Northeastern U.S., and hubs such as St. Louis, San Diego, South San Francisco, Houston, and the Washington, D.C. area. He has invested in companies like Sparrow Pharmaceuticals, Glycomine, Atalanta Therapeutics, Alleviant Medical, and Bluejay Therapeutics. Before RiverVest, he was a Principal at Crescendo Ventures, an Equity Research Analyst at Piper Jaffray, a Marketing Manager at Medtronic, and a Senior Financial Analyst at General Mills. Jay studied at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
